FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL)DeeAnn Jones, West Columbia, SC--- deesdawgs@aol.com
Chelsea was dumped at a rural shelter in South Carolina with 5 other dachshunds. She was clearly a breeder dog that never received human contact. She was very scared and shy when she arrived at her foster home but has quickly warmed up. Although she still will not come directly to you, if you sit down in a chair or on the couch, she will love up to you. This is her first time enjoying the outdoors without a kennel so she loves to go in and out of the doggie door. She runs outside with the other dogs and loves to come back in to the couch. She is a very loving dachshund but will need some work on meeting new people. She needs to go to a home with other dachshunds because she needs that comfort of other dogs.I would not recommend her to go to a home with any children under 13 years of age.Chelsea’s is a double dapple and is very beautiful – please make her a part of your home!

More about Chelsea...MD
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
