BIO:

Herbie lives up to his name, he is a total LOVE BUG!!!  He loves to play with his toys and chew on bones but his favorite things are to give lots of kisses.  He will lay on your lap and sleep in the big bed under the covers if you allow him.

Herbie loves to bark to ask his foster sisters and brothers to play with him.  He is a great player and really enjoys having other dogs to play with.  Herbies preferred home would be a place he would have another furfriend to play with and a home that someone stays home most of the time because has some separation anxiety.  Herbie can’t go to a home with young children or bigger dogs.

Herbie is still working on his housetraining but with consistency and positive reinforcement he is learning.

MESSAGE FROM HERBIE:
Hello there!  Mom said it might be best if I typed a little about myself so here we go.  They call me Herbie The Love Bug but sometimes my foster mom calls me Herbalicious.  I like my name – it’s got a nice ring to it!  Well, I like playing but my fosters brothers and sisters will not play with me, I don’t know why.  My foster mom says just give them time.  I love to roll in the grass and sunbathe too!  There is a weird looking dog here (mom said he is a Yorkie??) that annoys me.  He barks at me then runs.  I am not really sure what he wants but I chase him and acts like I am not there – go figure!  I am learning to walk on a leash and my mom says that I will get the hang of it soon because I am very smart.  Breakfast and dinner are the best thing – I get excited when I hear the bowls getting filled.  Well, my paws hurt from typing and my new friends are waiting for me to come out and play so if you want to know more, just ask my foster mom.  I hope you fill out an adoption application so I can find a forever home!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

More about HERBIE....PA

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
