Personality:

Scout is a relaxed, non-dominant and future lap-dog puppy.  He has a warm, loving personality.  He loves to play and to be held.  We call him the poster dog because frankly, he’s gorgeous.  He’s not as active as his four siblings because his personality is just so gentle.  He loves to chew on shoe laces and romp around outside.  He stays close to the humans; he seems to love our company.  He’ll do anything to have his chest scratched and just loves to cuddle.

I have two children, ages 12 and 6.  He is fine with both of them.

Training:

Scout knows how to use a mat and hits it most of the time.  If left to wander around he does seek a mat unless it’s not convenient for him and then he’ll just stop and go.  Continued training will help him learn the ropes.  We’re beginning to train them to go outside now that the weather is getting warmer.

He enjoys his crate and enjoys a soft, plush bed to go in it.

More about Scout 2...AL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
