BIO: Bella is now an independent female who is ready for her new life and new home. In case you had not read her previous bio she came to AADR as a pregnant female (puppy mill) but the puppies are now gone on to homes of their own and it is now Bella’s turn. She is a little on the shy side but will warm up quickly if she is offered a treat and kind words. Because she is skittish you just have to give her time to come to you when she feels comfortable. Once she feels comfortable and safe she turns into quite the kisser and loves to be hugged. Bella came to us underweight and despite our best efforts the puppies have drained her so she is on the road to gaining weight again, and she loves food! Bella’s shyness is obviously due to abuse and fear and will be overcome in time as she learns that not all humans are cruel.

She is a beautiful brindle who loves to run in the yard and plays well with other dogs. She is completely housebroken especially if she has the use of a doggie door. She is currently sleeping in the big bed with her foster brothers & sisters and snuggles very well. It is the best feeling went I put her in bed and finally feel all of her fears fade away as she settles into my shoulder, gives a deep sigh, and relaxes into sleep.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
