BIO:  Daisy May came from AL when her owners were just not able to care for her due to having young children in the home.

Sadly, Daisy May was not socialized as a puppy and she is fearful of strangers but with people with whom she is familiar, she is fine and even good with children.  However, anyone wanting to adopt her must understand she will be timid for the first few days but after that she is very loving.

Daisy loves belly rubs and snuggling with you on the couch.  She is very affectionate, specializing in the ol’ tongue in the ear kisses.  She is energetic, loves to play with other pups and toys, and always greets you with lots of tail wags and kisses.  She is such a sweet girl!  She still has that great puppy energy.  Check-out Daisy's video of her playing with her friend Cody (who was adopted by her foster mom earlier this year).  Cody has only one complaint about his new little friend: she snores so LOUDLY!  He has sent us a video to prove it.  You can see it below and judge for yourself.  When we first heard it, we were not sure if that was Daisy snoring or maybe a mini ghost of Christmas past under that Christmas tree blanket!

Daisy is doing well with her housetraining when kept on a schedule.  But her training will need to be continued in her new home.  Also, because she was not socialized as a puppy, her new family will need to allow her to experience new situations where she feels safe and become accustomed to being around new people.

Our must haves for her are:

  • Fenced in yard
  • Someone home more than not
  • Another young, small, well-socialized dog for her to learn from and play with
  • Someone who will continue with her socialization and potty training
  • No apartments, high rises or condos

Daisy’s foster mom says she is a joy to have in her home and “just makes me smile with all her cuteness” as when she gets on her back, rolls around, and puts her back paw in her mouth. (Cuteness overload.)  Daisy just needs that forever home where she can feel safe, grow, and be her beautiful little self.

 ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
