Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteer that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast. Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Sir Copper was an owner turn-in. They could not afford the care that he needed so they decided it was best to turn him over to rescue rather than put him in a shelter. Sir Copper has had his teeth cleaned and microchipped and on a diet and is doing very well. He loves the doggie door and the fenced in yard. He is housebroken and is very well leash trained. He is doing very well with all the other fosters but would also do well as an only dog. If you are looking for a handsome NEW man, this is the one for you. He's fine with men, women and older children. Please consider Sir Copper for you next "newest" best friend.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
