Donner is a tiny little puppy that was dumped (without mom) at an animal shelter in central Alabama along with his 7 brothers and sisters. They're all a small-breed mix (dachshund/chihuahua, we're guessing?) with some little doxie ears to make them too cute for words! Donner is outgoing and friendly and loves to be with people. He has been microchipped, dewormed, and checked by our vet. Donner can only be adopted by new parents who are willing to sign a spay/neuter agreement and pay a $50 deposit, which will be returned with proof of spay/neuter. We will require the contact information of the vet you intend to use so we can make sure Donner and all the pups are spayed/neutered when they are old enough. Donner will be available for adoption at 8 weeks. If you'd like to add Donner to your family, fill out an adoption application!
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application
More about DONNER....NH
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
