BIO: Peanut is an older dog that is having to learn new tricks. He has no teeth and has adjusted nicely to eating just soft food, in fact he REALLY likes his food and will remind you when it is time to eat. He has also had to learn new people skills as he has spent most of his life with one companion. He would do best in a home with no other dogs as he is accustomed to being number one lap dog. He loves to cuddle and gives the occasional kiss if he is in the mood. Since Peanut has spent most of his life in the company of a Male companion he would do best in the same company. He is tolerant of Female humans but is more trusting, at ease and happiest with Male humans.

Peanut is housetrained to using a doggie door and enjoys wandering the yard. He is not a very big guy but has a huge heart and just wants someone to love and spend his time with. He is not into chewing or chasing squirrels, he is laid back and trying his best to enjoy being a senior. His wants and needs are not great, he only desires a warm blanket (likes to burrow), a soft lap, soft food and a bit of TLC.

Please consider giving an older guy a second chance on being safe and loved. If you can find it in your heart to share your home with Peanut please email the address above with any questions you may have.

More about PEANUT...TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
