Looking for a forever home in Florida

BIO:  Hi, folks! My name is Lillie, and I am a teeny, tiny purebred sweetheart looking for my forever home. My foster mom says my name should actually be Shadow since I have a gorgeous blue/gray coat and will follow you everywhere! LOL

I was surrendered by a breeder in North Carolina, but since I was heartworm positive, I couldn’t go right to a foster home. Well, those pesky heartworms are now gone, and I am loving my new life in an actual home, not a kennel setting. It took me a few days to figure out the routine here, but I am very smart and a fast learner! I quickly learned to walk on a leash and potty in the fenced-in yard. BTW, I have a lot of curiosity (that’s what makes me so smart!) and love exploring. If you leave a closet door open, I’ll be in there investigating. Have a low shelf, I’ll be sniffing everything on it!

AADR wants me to stay in Florida where it is warm due to my rare coat color. My dilute blue fur is very thin (not even a hair on my ears!), and over time, my coat will become even thinner all over my body. No worries, though; this is perfectly normal for doxies with dilute coloring. I am loving Florida and am sure there is an AWESOME adopter in this state to adopt me! Is that you?!?

Here are my must-haves:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another small adult dog if you are gone most of the day. Remember ... I’ve always been with other dogs.
  • I can be an only dog if you work from home or are home a LOT of the day. Remember ... I LOVE YOU!
  • Sorry, no apartments, condos, or high-rises. I’m proud of my BIG bark, but your neighbors probably won’t be!

It’s helpful if you have breeder experience.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
