FOSTER HOME   DeeAnn  DeesDawgs@aol.com,

They were found in an abandoned house when they were 2 years of age.  They have never been separated in their 7 years of life and wish for it to remain that way.  Abby was extremely thin and infested with heart worms.  She has no problems now, is happy and healthy. They are both on heartworm prevention.  They are both lovers who will sit in your lap all day long. Abby loves to play with stuffed animals.  JT would rather stay in your lap.  They love to sleep in bed with you if you will let them.  They always need a blanket to get under.  They love to go for walks although JT gets tired and usually has to be carried back.  They love to dig outside in the yard so they should not be left unattended unless you are okay with that.  They also love to hunt for lizards.  They are very shy and submissive with new people as they will crouch down and tinkle until they trust you.  They will make wonderful pets to anyone who will give them TONS of love and attention and who knows how to house train dachshunds.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $35 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
