FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL) Ronita, North Alabama, ardengland@comcast.net

Piper was found at as a stray and rescued from a local animal shelter. What a nice young lady! She's very well mannered and knows basic commands such as “sit” and “stay”. Piper is friendly to both men and women and is happy to warm your lap and gives puppy kisses willingly. She's got a sweet temperament and fell in love with her foster brothers right away! She was also introduced to her foster mom's cat and gave him a sniff and was content to leave the “strange creature” alone. She's not been “kid tested”, but with her out-going and gentle temperament, will most likely be fine with children who can be respectful of a small pet in the home and understand the importance of keeping doors and gates closed to keep her safe. Piper has fallen in love with her foster dad and is content to be held, carried, snuggled, and spoiled rotten---she's loving all the attention from the boys in the family! Piper is a good girl in her crate and settles down nicely at night and when her foster parents must be away.

Piper was recently spayed, received all her vaccines and a microchip, and is on heartworm prevention. She is now ready to find a forever home that is looking for a sweet little princess to warm your lap and your heart. If you're ready for a new family member and think Piper is the right girl for you, please complete an application for adoption. Want more information or more pictures? Just email her proud foster mom!

More about Piper

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
