BIO:  Aubie and Bella are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Aubie is a very beautiful long-haired mini dachshund who came to the rescue after her owner passed away and her family could not care for her and her “sister”, Bella. Bella is a stunningly beautiful cream piebald long hair girl. They both know their names and will promptly come when called. Aubie and Bella are young dogs with lots of energy who love to run and play with their toys! They both love to be around people and do well with children over 10 years. They love to be petted and have their bellies rubbed and their ears scratched. They are doing well with being housebroken but need to go out immediately after eating to avoid a poop accident in the house and need to go out frequently during the day. They walk well on their leashes. They get along well with other dogs once they have a couple of days to acclimate, even those they meet while we are out walking. They need a fenced yard as they love to run and since their recent weight loss, can literally “run like the wind”.

They are on metabolic food for weight loss and have lost almost over a pound each in the last 2 weeks. They are never free-fed, and if they don’t eat the food, it is taken up and not offered again until the next mealtime. They are so much more active every day as they continue to lose weight. They run all over the backyard barking at a squirrel or two from time to time. They love green beans and will happily eat them right from the can or cooked fresh ones. They need someone who will diligently continue their weight loss journey by keeping them on their Metabolic food and strict exercise regimen.

Both Aubie and Bella are such happy girls! Aubie does not just wag her tail; she wags her whole body! Bella is happy chasing lizards. They require someone who will give them the love and attention they deserve. We are looking for adopters who live in Florida to keep them from traveling a great distance.

Our must-haves for these beautiful ladies include:

  • A fenced yard
  • A Florida adopter
  • The girls need to be adopted together
  • A home without shared walls, i.e. no condos, apartments, or high-rises

  ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
