BIO UPDATE (10/31/23):  This petite girl has her bags packed and is ready to go to the right home. Lucy loves to cuddle with her foster humans and foster dogs equally. She loves playing with toys and other dogs singly and in groups.

This girl is fearless and confident with her tail up and wagging. Lucy easily meets new people and dogs. She has an even, balanced, sweet temperament.

Now that it’s getting cold in Michigan, she is not too keen about going out in the cold, so you will need to keep her on a strict potty routine. She will always relieve herself when taken out, but like all dachshunds, she doesn’t like the cold or rain.

Lucy came from East Tennessee. Her previous owner obviously loved her dearly and gave her great care until she could no longer care for her and released her for adoption. She will easily transition to a new loving home.

Our must-haves for sweet Lucy include (no exceptions, please):

  • A fenced yard
  • Another young, small dog to play and cuddle with
  • Someone who can continue with her potty habits
  • No apartments, condos, high-rises, or duplexes

Can you provide the home Lucy deserves? All she needs is loving, caring humans who love cuddly girls.

From Lucy herself: Please check out my friend "Fireball Charlie in WI." Although I would love to be adopted by myself, it would be awesome if you could adopt my buddy Fireball Charlie too. We have a blast playing together! Just contact the rescue for a special adoption fee should you like to adopt both of us!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
