Greta is a owner surrender due to the fact that all the children are grown and gone and Mom and Dad are working full time and traveling there for she was either home alone or boarded. She is a sweet girl who gets very attached to you and wants to play with her favorite toys like she is 5 yrs. Old.She does like to sleep in her crate at night and we do have to watch her weight due to not putting much weight on her back. She loves to go for walks or just laying with you to watch TV or read a book. She is housebroken but like any dachshund she needs to be on a schedule. She is 100% crate trained so she is crated when Foster mom is not home. She loves to ride in the car but we use the crate for her own protection. If you can find it in your heart to give this girl a forever home for the remainder of her life she would be forever grateful and would love you unconditionally in return.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
