Chelsea came from shelter in Northern AL as a stray. She is a little shy when she first meets a stranger but is fine after she's had time to check you out. She gets along with all the foster brothers and sisters here and would probably do best with another dog for company if you work. She is crate-trained and apprears to be housebroken but we also have a dogie door so possibly a refresher course in housebreaking 101 would be in order. We don't know about cats and kids but we are thinking kids 12+ would be best. She loves to go outside in the fenced in yard. She is not high energy but does like to do her share of playing with the other fosters. If you are interested in making CHELSEA a part of your home please fill out an application today.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
