She is such a sweetie. She now has a doggie bed to sleep in or the big bed if she chooses. She can't get enough love. She is using a pee pad when left at home but would love to have a big back yard to play in when you are home. She learned to go in/out the doggy door on the porch very quickly and will bark / scratch on the door to let you know she is ready to come in.
She has not been around children so I would not recommend her to go to a home with children under 10 years old.No cats, she will terrorize them.
This sweetheart deserves to be with you and to love you.Angel has extra kisses for you.She wants to be with you in her forever home.
Hello, my name is Angel. I am a 5 year old red long hair dachshund. I was originally surrendered to AADR from a small breeder. Then I was adopted by a loving couple who treated me so nice and loved me very much but had to return me to AADR when they both lost their jobs. I am now with my foster mom and have plenty of other furfriends to play with. I get along well with other dogs, big and small. I am so loving and always want to be with my person. My foster mom said my name is Angel because I am an angel!! I would do best in a home that the human is home most of the time or that I have another furbrother or fursister to play with. I don't like kennels very much because when I was a breeder dog, I spent lots of time in a kennel so I would prefer a home that had a big back yard and a doggie door, like my foster home. I am very laid back and gentle, although I would not be the best for small children but kids over 10 would be great! I am totally housebroken as long as you either have a doggie door or have me on a schedule. I do want to warn you that I am VERY scared of storms and would want you to hold me when it was thundering. I would love to be able to sleep in the big bed with you but I do know how to sleep on the floor in my own bed. Can I come live with you???

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
