BIO:  Sassy Mae is a retired breeder from North Carolina. She is a very friendly, happy, and sweet little girl! If you are looking for a snuggle bunny, then Sassy Mae is your girl! She loves to run in the fenced yard chasing squirrels, birds, and any other wildlife. Since her prey drive is so high, a fenced yard is a must at her new home. Sassy Mae loves to bark at all noises, real or imagined. She gets along great with her 4 foster sisters and loves to snuggle with them in doggie beds. Sassy loves her toys and removing those pesky squeakers!

Unfortunately, when Sassy Mae had her dental, she lost all her teeth, and at this time, her food needs to be softened. 

Our must-haves for beautiful Sassy Mae include:

• A fenced yard
• No apartments, condos, or high-rises
• She can be an only dog or with another small dog

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
