BIO: Eli was rescued from a breeder who had many dachshunds. He spent most if not all of his time outdoors. Eli has tested positive for heartworms and will complete his treatment before he goes to his new home. Don’t let that stop you from choosing him; he would love to help you get the new year off to a great start.
Eli is nervous around new people and sometimes growls, but he has never shown any aggression. He is easily won over with a few gentle words and tasty treats. Once he realizes that you are okay he wants to be with you. His nervousness around new people is decreasing as he becomes more comfortable in his foster home and is meeting more nice people. He would probably be frightened by young children though. Eli walks well on a leash and enjoys strolls around the neighborhood. He gets along very well with other dogs. He has not been in a house with cats, but on our walks he pays very little attention to any we see, so would probably be fine with them. He is crate trained and is doing very well with housebreaking. He stays in his crate when nobody is home and runs around the house with the other dogs the rest of the time. He has had very few accidents and has learned very quickly where he should and should not go. Eli enjoys helping in the kitchen, watching TV, and hanging out in a dog bed with other dogs. He hasn’t learned to play fetch, but he does enjoy chewing on a Nylabone.
Eli is an easy going and gentle little fellow and would love to be your new best friend.
