BIO UPDATE (7/31/23):  Bandit has completed his dental, and unfortunately, he lost all his teeth, but it doesn't stop him from eating his food after it has been slightly softened.

What a good boy he is! He loves his walks, riding in the car, and being with his people!

BIO:  If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, Bandit is your guy! This little man is looking for his “Furever Home.” His people could no longer care for him, and AADR stepped up to help. We are so glad we did! Bandit is shy when you first meet him, but he soon warms up and loves to be next to his people.

Bandit was in serious need of a dental when he arrived in rescue. He has completed his first stage of dental work, and what a difference it has made. He is feeling so much better with all that pain gone.

We are learning in the foster home that he loves to play with toys and is very happy when it’s feeding time. Bandit likes to sleep in his crate, but he would be very happy to sleep in the Big Bed. Bandit has learned to use the doggie door, and he hasn’t had any accidents in the house. If you do not have a doggie door, he will need to be kept on a regular schedule. Bandit loves the long walks and has met the neighbor’s big dogs and has no problems walking with them.

Our must-haves for sweet Bandit include:

  • A fenced yard
  • A doggie door would be a plus
  • A small dog for him to buddy with
  • No apartments, condos, or high-rises

Bandit is a sweet, sweet guy after he gets comfortable in the home. If you meet his “must haves,” please consider Bandit as your next doggie best friend.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
