BIO:  Clark is the bestest boy ever!!

He loves everybody and everybody loves Clark.  He is absolutely the sweetest pup. Gentle and good natured, Clark has a heart of gold.

Because Clark's legs are a bit longer than the average dachshund, we had his DNA tested.  Well, Mr. Clark is 51% Miniature Pinscher, 49% Dachshund and 100% Sweetheart.

Clark is an Olympic caliber “big bed” snuggler and sleeper.  He is in heaven if he can lie next to you in your recliner to nap or share a movie or a good book.  However, when it’s time for chores, he will follow you around the house to be your little helper or supervise.  Clark is also excellent in the car.  He is just happy to be with you and going somewhere. So, if you are looking for a traveling buddy or co-pilot, he is your man!   This little guy is just looking for someone to love and have them love him!

Clark walks well on a leash and is enthusiastic about his daily walks.  He enjoys being outside so a fenced yard is fantastic.

Clark came to AADR from another small breed rescue after being found as a stray in Middle Tennessee.  During his medical exam, we found what was either an old injury to his left hip or arthritis, so he benefits from using a joint supplement (as do almost all older dachshunds), a low dosage anti-inflammatory medication and regular exercise/walks.

This little guy gets along well with other pups or could be an only dog.  You will be the center of his world and he wants to be the center of yours.

Our must-haves for sweet Clark include:

  • No steps/stairs
  • Someone who is home a lot as he loves being with his people
  • He can be an only dog or have another small adult/senior dog for a pal.
  • No apartments, high-rises.  Condos are ok if there is an attached, fenced yard.
  • Several walks a day if you do not have a fenced yard.  A doggie door would be awesome but not mandatory

The little man's suitcase is packed and he's ready to travel with volunteer transport available to an approved adopter east of the Mississippi River.

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
