BIO:  Jack is a sweet little boy from Virginia. He was surrendered when his owner could no longer take care of him and there were no family members that were able to take him.

Jack loves to curl up next to you or sun himself outside. He is crate trained but prefers to sleep in the Big Bed. He gets along with my other two dogs but is afraid of large dogs. Jack walks great on a leash but is distracted by loud cars. He is getting better with this, however. Jack is good with older kids and loves to give kisses! He would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or where there is another dog to keep him company. He has never had an accident in my house but did mark in his first foster’s house. So, if you have other dogs that have marked in the house it is possible he might mark as well. He is currently on allergy medication.

Jack just wants to be loved and is looking for a loving forever family to make 2023 his best year ever!

Our must-haves for this adorable little guy include:

  • A fenced yard attached to your home
  • An owner who is home most of the time or has another small dog to keep him company
  • No large dogs
  • No apartments, high-rises, or any building with a shared wall
  • Looking for a FL adopter

If you meet all these requirements, please complete an adoption application. You will not regret taking Jack into your home and making him a member of your family!

 ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.
