FOSTER HOME (NAME, CITY & STATE, ZIP, EMAIL) Stephanie, North Alabama, smburmei@comcast.net

If you are looking for a young, happy, friendly boy, ROCKY is your man! He's got a super personality and a well balanced temperament and is so very easy to love! AND, he is a very good-looking, STANDARD boy that many of you love and can't resist. He was found as a stray by a local animal shelter and somebody let a great pet get away. Rocky seems to have no “issues” and is happy with both men and women, likes his foster brothers and sisters, and enjoys being in the sunshine and letting the neighbors know that he's keeping a watch on the yard. He's not kid- or cat-tested, but should do well with older kids that will keep gates and door closed and keep him safe.

Rocky has a submissive temperament and is a lover, not a fighter! He is about 3 years old, weighs about 17.5 pounds and should “fill in” just a little more, but is at a fairly good weight. He's full of happy energy and would do best with a secure yard to play in, and would do well with a friendly playmate that likes to have fun and lounge in the sun. Rocky had a few "marking" incidents when he first arrived at his foster home, but appears to be 100% housetrained--no accidents, a complete gentleman. He may have a day or two of claiming his new home, but should resume his "gentleman" manners right away if kept on a schedule. His foster parents think he will thrive with a forever home where someone will give him lots of exercise and play and should do well with obedience training because he's such a smart boy and would love the structure. He's quite treat motivated and anxious to please and should do exceptionally well with a little time and energy. Of course, Rocky is equally as anxious to give you an abundance of unconditional love and kisses in return.

Rocky has a sweet disposition, he needs little training to perfect his “gentleman” manners, such as not jumping on people when he's happy, learning he can just sit beside you, not always ON you, and that your hands sometimes have other purposes besides petting his handsome head. He pulls a little when walking on a leash, but takes daily walks and is quickly learning how to walk nicely. Rocky is ready to find a forever family that will give him lots of love and attention and let him blossom. He is a sweet and loving boy that will bless you and your family for the rest of his life.

If transport by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about ROCKY

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
