BIO UPDATE: From the little man himself:
"Happy, friendly, and handsome gentleman in search of a loving male adopter with a lap to share! I have more energy than the other three dogs in my foster home and will follow you everywhere. I soooo love my person, but if you leave home, I will run into a crate or x-pen without issue... just give me a treat as a reward, of course! If I’m in your lap, you can bet that I’ll be nudging your hand for a pat or head scratch. Gosh, I love to be near you. Are you ready for your next best buddy?!? Here I am!!! Oh, almost forgot... my foster mom says I am very SMART, too! You can email my foster mom if you have any questions. She’s waiting to hear from you and find me the PERFECT adopter."
BIO: HOW CAN YOU RESIST THAT FACE?! If we had to pick one word to describe Magnum, it would be “happy!”. His tail is always on go!
Don’t let his age scare you, he is like the “energizer bunny”... ready for anything!
Magnum came from Indiana when he didn’t get along with the toddler in the home.
What a happy, happy boy! He will love to follow you from room to room to help you with whatever you are doing, and when you sit down he’ll be right there to warm your lap. This dog is as close to perfect as you’re going to get!
Our must-haves for sweet Magnum include:
- Male only household
- A fenced yard
- Needs a strong pack leader who knows doxies
- Someone who is home a lot, though he is crate trained
- No apartments, high-rises, or condos, as he does like to bark at the traffic
- He can be an only dog or with another
Magnum would love to sleep in the Big Bed with you or beside your bed in a doggie bed, your choice. He probably would not do well with cats, birds, or rodents.
Please find it in your heart to give this boy his last home, he’s such a great boy he deserves nothing but the best.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
