BIO:  Happy, handsome, and healthy - the trifecta in doxie rescue! Meet Amos, one HAPPY boy with his tail ALWAYS wagging! He is beyond HANDSOME, a chocolate tan long-hair dapple with gorgeous markings and AKC Certified Pedigree papers, too! Look at those precious fat feet and short legs, the perfect embodiment of the dachshund breed.

Amos was an owner surrender in serious need of vetting. AADR had his eyes, ears, and teeth all addressed by our vet and he is now HEALTHY and ready for his new life in a Florida forever home. Amos has no teeth due to past neglect, but just soften his kibble and he eats like a champ! He gets along great with the other doxies in his foster home (2 males and 1 female) but would probably be just fine as an only dog if his adopter is recently retired or works from home. Amos is very laid back!

Our wishes for sweet Amos include:

  • A fenced yard or screened lanai
  • A Florida adopter who is home a lot because he LOVES his person
  • No apartments since Amos might bark if lonely

Want to know more about Amos? You can email his foster mom for updates. We promise you’re going to love this little guy as much as she does!!!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
