My name is Sheeba and I am a queen for sure. My original family had to give me up and I was thankfully taken into this wonderful rescue. I am a beautiful black(some brown tints can be seen in certain lighting) shorthair female who has been spayed. I am an alpha female --I prefer male companions and thus should go go a home with boy dogs as I tend to boss females around. I am houstrained and sleep in my crate (but would love to sneak into the big bed under the covers) I do like to get my exercise to keep my girlish figure so daily walks are a must. I love my fenced in back yard here at my foster home so make sure I have one if you decide to adopt me. I lived in NYC for 1 week but came back to my foster home as big city life was not my thing (couldn't get used to all those noises and busyness) I use the ramps to get up in my favorite spot (the chair by the window) I love my foster family and give many kisses. I have the fastest wagging tail my foster mom has ever seen and I wag it all the time. I do well around cats. I can be very protective of my yard and my family but will be OK once i know the new person is OK. I'm not sure about little kids as sometimes they move too quickly and might scare me so please no small children for me. Please consider giving me the chance at my forever home.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
