BIO:  Journey came to us from Middle Tennessee when he was found wandering down the street with a cable and spiral tie out attached to his collar. That was his lucky day! We were contacted and he immediately went to the vet. They found that his ears were so infected they were almost completely closed, and he had a yeast infection on his skin and a severe flea allergy to the point the back half of his body was bare of fur. We knew we could help him and get him a much better life. That’s where you come in, he’s all healed and all but a quarter size bald spot near his tail is all that remains of his past life. So who wants to adopt this sweet boy? He loves attention but doesn’t hog it, and he likes to play with toys and other small dogs.

Our must-haves for sweet Journey include:

• A fenced yard
• Someone who is home a lot
• No apartments, high-rises, or condos
• Another small dog or two to play with (he’s been with as many as 5 other small dogs in the foster home)
• Kids over 7 years old that he could play with

If you meet these requirements and want to give him his last, much better home then please don’t wait to apply to adopt him.

He is taking an allergy shot once every six weeks which could probably be discontinued during the winter months. Grass seems to be the trigger.

At night he’s happy just sleeping in a doggie bed in your bedroom. He will also let you know when he needs to go potty and he does like the foster mom’s fenced yard, so that is a must.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.

There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. 

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
