BIO: If you are looking for a handsome guy, then check out Eddie!
Eddie found himself in rescue when his owner passed away. He is an absolutely wonderful dog! He is friendly with just about everyone he meets, but is a little unsure around men and bigger dogs. After being around men for a little while though, he is doing just fine. If you have a bigger dog, you should proceed with caution. With all that has gone on in a short period of time, Eddie is coming around very nicely.
Eddie does want to be with his people so he might bark or whine if you aren’t around, but we are working on this. He will need a strong pack leader to keep him in check because he will push the limit. And, what a good eater! Eddie loves his chow! He is a smart little fellow too and learned the doggie door quickly. We haven’t had any potty accidents in the house! Eddie loves running around the yard, gets along well with his foster sibling dachshunds, is leash trained, and loves to play with his toys. Eddie sleeps in his crate but would love to be in the Big Bed cuddling.
Eddie is up to date on all shots and is scheduled for a dental, so he will be ready for a new home in September.
Our must-haves for sweet Eddie include:
- A fenced yard since he loves being outside
- Another small, young dog to play with because he still has a lot of puppy behaviors
- A strong pack leader
- No small children
- No apartments, high-rises, or condos since he does bark
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
