PUPPY MILL SURVIVOR

Aleina was rescued from a horrible puppymill situation and was recently spayed and had her nasty teeth cleaned for the first time in her life. She is feeling quite well and is a happy girl. We think she must have been a “house dog” since she is very social with both men and women and seems comfortable in the house and snuggled up in your lap. She hasn't been cat-tested, and she is afraid of small children. She should do well with older children that know how to be kind and respectful of a pet and make sure fence gates and exterior doors are always closed to keep her safe. Aleina is 100% housetrained--no accidents at all at her foster family's home--a complete lady. She is a joy to have around with a happy personality that steals the show. She's playful with her foster sibling, both male and female. She is slightly treat/food possessive, but she's a doxie—what else would you expect!!!

Allie has a really cute doxie body, low to the ground and a little stocky. She weighs about 12 pounds and it is a good weight for her. AND—she is oh-so-cute with her unique coloring!!!!! She is a piebald, with a white patch on the back of her neck, all four feet are white, a white chest, and the tip of her tail is white, and a wild boar overlay. She is sure to turn heads! She loves to play in the yard and has picked out her favorite toys and runs and plays to her heart's content with her floppy green monster.  Allie is a very smart girl and caught on the routine of her foster home quickly and easily. She is not afraid or timid like some of the other pupppymill dogs and seems quite comfortable with her newly acquired “lapdog” status! She LOVES her foster dad and has him wrapped around her little paw---she's a shameless flirt!

Aleina is ready for a forever home that will love her unconditionally for the rest of her life. She's happy, outgoing, and ready to bless someone's life. If you have a  big, soft heart and a room in your lap, you will be rewarded in too many ways to count! Feel free to email her foster mom with questions or request more pictures.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options.  If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
