Mickey was an owner surrender.He spent A LOT of time in his crate.He is housebroken and walks really nice on a leash.He is super playful and has a lot of puppy in him, but knows when it is time to settle down.He listens very well and is the sweetest little guy.He REALLY wants to be by his people wherever they are.He never got to run in a back yard and has taken to it VERY well.Mickey plays wonderful with his foster sister and brothers.He shares his toys and food without any problems.Mickey did mention that he misses his little girl who he used to love and sleep with.I told him we would work on getting him another little person he can sleep love and play with.We will update as Mickey lives with us.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
