BIO: This handsome young man with the great name is Stumpy. He needs to lose several pounds since right now he is almost as wide as he is long! Stumpy is a WONDERFUL doxie... very laid back and very sweet. He was surrendered in Florida when his owner could no longer care for three dogs.
Stumpy will always look for the softest spot to settle down, the rug instead of the floor, the pillow on the bed instead of the mattress, the bathmat instead of the tile. He often sleeps on his back with his legs up in the air. His tail will wag the minute you pass by him. BTW, he is always close by! Stumpy gets along with the three dogs in his foster home, but he will do just fine as an only dog if you are home a lot. Humans are his “jam”, not other dogs!
Don’t let this cutie get away! Fill out an application for Stumpy ASAP.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about their foster.
There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding the importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issues with this, please take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
