Apollo is a very affectionate big boy. He loves to snuggle under the covers in bed and is fantastic at spooning. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to socialize at the dog park. He is also just fine being an only dog and doesn’t mind the affections of cats. Apollo is working on his diet and is losing weight consistently.

It is not recommended that Apollo be adopted by a family with children. He has food and water aggression issues that we are working on and have improved greatly after only 2 weeks. Apollo is completely house trained and loves to go for walks. He will make a wonderful addition to a loving home.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
