BIO: Nugget was surrendered to rescue when the family had to move and the owner was too ill to care for her. She’s a sweet girl and does love a lap! She will be in the chair before you even sit down to be next to you and she will sleep right by your side all night long. She’s timid at first but warms quickly as long as you don’t push her.
She can get a little jealous of other dogs that want in your lap too but a sharp “no” and she’s fine. She will need to be kept on a schedule so there are no accidents. She loves it when you go outside with her when she goes out to potty. She can be left in an enclosed room with other dogs with no problem. Just don’t feed into her anxiety when you come home as that will make her worse, she’s doing well at her foster mom’s house but she is ignored when we come home from being gone.
If you are looking for an angel then look no further as this girl truly is a sweetie!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
