BIO: Are you looking for the perfect dachshund? Well look no further, you’ve found him! Koal loves everyone, gets along with other dogs, loves to cuddle, and would love to sleep in your bed. What more can you ask for? Except for maybe loving cats too?!
He was surrendered in middle Tennessee because the owners Lab was too rough with him and they were afraid he’d get seriously hurt. So, they decided sadly to rehome him.
Our must haves for handsome Koal include:
- A fenced yard
- Another small 3-8 year old dog to play with (he likes to play!)
- Someone who can be home a bit though he does fine if you do have to leave; just don’t make a fuss when you come home
- No apartments or high-rises
His temporary foster mom said if she was in the market for another dog, he’d be hers because she’s run into so many with some kind of behavior issues, but not Koal. His only down-side is he was fed off the table so he is by your side when you’re eating, but we're working on that. Whomever adopts him can not allow him to be fed from the table.
If you think you are the perfect family for him then don’t wait, apply now!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
