FLORIDA ADOPTER ONLY

BIO (Update 3/27/22):  My name is Allison and I am beyond cute ... and oh so tiny, petite, and DAINTY!  I am used to being a princess since I was the only dog of a senior owner who did not socialize me very much. I am getting along fine with the three other doxies in my foster home (2 males and 1 female), but I think I’ll be happiest as an only dog again.  I love having all the one-on-one attention!

I was originally in Alabama, then AADR transported me to Tennessee to be fully vetted, and then I made the very long transport to my current foster home in Sarasota.  Let me first say, I am LOVING Florida!  I have been on enough transports and I think the warmer weather here is awesome because I get to hunt geckos in the fenced yard all day.  Well, not all day, because I also LOVE sitting in YOUR lap being loved on all day, too!

I do have one more LOVE ... the BIG bed!  Yup, that’s right, I want to sleep in bed WITH you ... no exceptions.  I am a great sleeper and barely move during the night.  In fact, my foster mom has to wake me up in the morning to get me out of bed!

I am NOT used to strangers and children so it takes me a while to warm up and feel comfortable when new folks come into the house. I will bark and even growl to let them know to get away. My foster home is helping me with this although I could regress when I change homes again.

Here are my MUST HAVES in my next home:

  • A fenced yard attached to the home.
  • An adopter in Florida.
  • An adopter who allows me to sleep in the BIG bed.
  • A lap to sit in and be loved on by someone home a lot of the day.
  • NO apartments, high-rises, big dogs, birds, or rodents.

If you meet these requirements and want an adorable teeny tiny companion, I’m your girl! You will want to fill out an application ASAP because I am going to have a LOT of interested potential adopters.  My foster mom is going to be very picky in finding me the PERFECT forever home since she has promised me there will only be one more move!  You can email Meg if you have any questions, but it’s always best to fill out an application first.  I am looking forward to being adopted and spoiled the way I deserve!

BTW, I did have a fresh dental in TN, but due to the poor dental care in my past, I lost 11 more teeth (2 were already missing). Sadly, one was a lower canine so I’m being fed soften food until my mouth is fully healed ... then I can go back on hard kibble. I MUST have annual dentals from here on out to keep my remaining teeth.  That’s a MUST, too!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
