BIO: Are you looking for the perfect Dachshund? Well look no further! Casper is housebroken, loves kids and other dogs, but is too interested in cats. He LOVES his people and will follow you from room to room. Casper was turned into a shelter in middle Alabama because the other dog in the family was picking on him and the owners felt he needed a better home where he would not be picked on. He came into his foster home like he’d lived here all his life and fit right in! We must warn you he loves to sleep in the big bed and does like to snore! A small price to pay for a perfect Dachshund!
Our must haves for Casper include:
- A fenced yard
- Someone who is home a lot as he loves his people, but he is fine with other dogs if you have to go out
- No apartments or high-rises
- No cats
He did have a hematoma on one ear that makes that ear shorter, but that only adds to his cuteness! Ear hematomas occur when a blood vessel in the ear bursts and bleeds into the space between the ear cartilage and skin.
Don’t wait too long to apply to adopt this boy... he will certainly be scooped up quickly!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
There will be an additional $55 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state they are being fostered in.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
