BIO UPDATE (4/25/2022): Bronson just got groomed for summer and was the perfect gentleman. Now you can see his lovely brindle coat. He even got his eyebrows and beard trimmed up.
This sweet boy has adapted so well after losing the only family he ever knew after 9.5 years. He loves to cuddle up close to other little dogs and snooze if his foster Mom and Dad’s laps aren't available.
He has also learned to have his teeth brushed, so he will probably never have to go to the doggy dentist again, as long as his new family keeps it up!
Bronson is a treasure, such a joy to have around! Maybe you are his perfect forever home?
BIO UPDATE (3/27/22): Bronson is such a character! He loves everyone he meets and loves his toys!! He apparently was a bit spoiled in his previous home, as he will do a little bark when he expects you to pick him up and hold him, and that is pretty much all the time.
Bronson sleeps wonderfully in his crate all night but would love to sleep in the Big Bed.
BIO: This little boy is just cuteness overload! Meet Bronson, a true purebred, short-legged, fat-pawed, wirehaired dachshund.
He and two other dogs, were surrendered by his owners in Tennessee after a divorce when neither one could take them. AADR stepped up and took him in so he wouldn't go to a shelter. Bronson went immediately to the vet and was neutered, given a full body scan, and had a dental.
This little guy apparently was hit by a car several years ago and had several serious injuries. He now seems to have no apparent issues, except a little skip in his back-end step every so often. He plays and gets around really well, we call him our "miracle boy". Because of this, we want Bronson to go to a home that will use ramps, NO steps or stairs. His new parents must be very careful that he does not gain weight. No rough play or jumping at all for him.
Bronson loves everyone and likes nothing better than to be held, give kisses, and sit in a chair with you all day. He sleeps in his crate all night and can use a doggy door. He has free run of living areas, with 2 other dogs, when Foster Mom is away.
His dream home MUST include:
- Someone who is home a lot to hold him!!
- A quiet, calm household
- A fenced yard
- No steps or stairs
- Another calm doggy friend
- Lots of squeaky toys
If you think you could be this little boy’s dream home, please fill out an application.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $60 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
