BIO:  Jake came to rescue as an owner surrender from Ohio. We can't imagine giving up this little one, he is an awesome pup! He is a gentle soul who will melt your heart.

Our must haves for handsome Jake include:

  • A fenced yard
  • Another young, small dog to play with
  • No high-rises or apartments

Jake is a wonderful boy who loves to play. He plays with his foster siblings and also plays with toys. He is working on learning to share. Jake is mostly potty trained, but occasionally has an accident in the house. He is making progress though. Jake is given free range of our house all day and night with our dogs and has no problems. He likes to sleep with all of us in the big bed (we have three dogs). This boy does love to eat and will try to eat another dog’s food, so we are working with him on slowing down and not bothering the other dogs. He is doing great with that.

Jake is very loving and loves to give and get kisses! He enjoys being on your lap and taking a snooze. He is still young yet and likes to chew, so you just have to watch what you leave out. He does well in the bath and is not afraid of the water. He also rides well in the car.

Jake would love to have a forever family that includes another dog to grow and learn with. He loves getting the zoomies in the yard. He is doing well learning to fetch. This boy has an awesome personality and is ready for the right family!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
