Nolan came to us from a shelter in East TN where he was turned into a shelter as a stray. When we got him he had a ear infection and was eaten up by fleas so bad and had a allergy to them that most of his hair was missing. We got him all fixed up, UTD on shots, bathed, dental and on heartworm prevention. The only thing let to do now is give him time to grow his hair all back with is coming in wonderful. In another month no one will ever know he was almost bald when he came into foster. He is a sweet sweet boy. Gets along with all the other dogs here, male and female. Was a little timid with the man of the house but now does fine with him. He does love to sleep under the covers of the bid bed and will be there all night too. We think older kids 12+ would be fine. Cats we do not know about. Please give this boy is last forever home. He will repay you with years of love and devotion.

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
