BIO:   Buddy has been a well cared for dog.  He has, almost perfect, house manners.  His only flaw; he likes to tip over bathroom garbage cans.  When introduced to my home he walked right past my 2 big dogs, without any intimidation. Buddy engages in play with a toy by himself, or wrestling with the other dogs, and especially with us. He enjoys the outside and walks nicely on a leash.

Buddy is crate trained but prefers to sit on your lap and sleep in your bed.  His coat is so, so soft and his personality so magnetic he’s hard to resist. 

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
