BIO: Gabby was turned into a shelter in Alabama when the family’s two-year-old child was being too rough with her (she is 12 after all!). AADR saved this “oldie but goodie”, got her shots up to date, gave her a dental, and had a small benign growth removed from her hind end. Gabby’s bloodwork is impeccable, and she is completely ready for adoption! Gabby is a lover, not a fighter and gets along with dogs and cats. She is a ball of energy at times and then naps for a while. She is a true lap dog!
Our must-haves for this precious girl include:
- A fenced yard
- No apartments or high-rises
- Someone who is home at lot since she loves being around her people
- No excessive number of stairs into or inside the home
Now a few words from the little lady herself:
Gabby here, coming to you from my foster home in Fredericksburg, VA! My foster parents sure are nice, but I would really love to find a forever home to live out the rest of my years. I will be your best friend and follow you all over the place. I am very healthy, and my Foster Mom is keeping me slender, since it is better for my legs and back. I definitely have a bikini body! I am really good at eating my food (treats too), and I have a perfect digestive system – luckily, I am completely housetrained!
There are dogs and cats in my Foster Home, but I couldn’t care less. I do not pose a threat to them, so they leave me alone. What I really want, though, is to be with my people. I will follow you around, lay on your lap when you let me, and am okay being kenneled when it is time for bed. My Foster Mom and Dad prefer that I not sleep on the bed, so I know not to go there. My Foster Family says I am cute as a button, especially when I swing my hips as I walk – like I am walking the runway at a fashion show. I am nice to everyone I meet, so you don’t have to worry about me when your friends come over. I will love them too! Lastly, my Foster Family has never heard me bark – though I do whine and cry a little when I am trying to tell you something.
If you think that you might be my forever family, please fill out an application at www.allamericandaschundrescue.org.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
