BIO:  GiGi was turned into a shelter in Northern Alabama, we are unsure why. What we do know is she is all puppy and she’d love to have another small young dog to play with as she LOVES to play. If no one will play with her, she’ll play by herself for a while. Don’t be fooled though... if you don’t have another dog for her to play with and you won’t play with her, she’ll only entertain herself for so long before she’ll be looking to get into mischief!

Ours wish list for this little gal includes:

  • A fenced yard
  • Someone who is home a lot to finish her potty training
  • Another young small or medium dog to play with
  • No apartments or high rises

We think she might have some lab in her and we are doing a DNA test. As soon as we have the results, we’ll post it on her bio. She is as sweet, cute, and busy as any pure bred Dachshund you’d find. Don’t be too late in applying to adopt this beauty!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshunds back or get bitten.

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $55 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
