BIO:  Beau was surrendered along with two other dachshunds when their owner passed away and the family could not care for them. Don't look at Beau’s age, he says it’s only a number. If you didn’t know he’s 14 years old, you’d never guess by the way he acts! So please don’t let that stop you from adopting this sweet boy.

Our wish list for sweet Beau includes:

  • A fenced yard or screened-in Lanai
  • Another small dog to keep him company if you have to be away
  • No apartments, high rises, or condos
  • Beau loves walks so someone who likes to walk would be great

Beau is a friendly boy and just wants a lasting forever home to lay his head down. But don’t think he just sleeps all the time, nope, he’ll keep up with you in the house or fenced yard or going for a leashed walk. He loves lap time or snuggling in a nice warm blanket.

He did come in a little overweight but we’ve helped him trim down and now he's at a good, healthy weight. He cannot be allowed to get overweight again so limiting treats and measuring food is the way to go. And no people food... he will try to con you out of whatever you’re eating.

Someone has to see the beauty in is eyes and heart, please don’t let wait to long for his furever home!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Beau in VA

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
