BIO: This beautiful girl is Yoko, an 11-year-old with a red and black smooth coat. Yoko came to us after her owner passed away. She had obviously been loved and received excellent care. She loves being around people and will follow you all over the house.
Yoko has a lot of energy, especially when it comes to feeding time! She needs to lose a little weight and is working on that. Yoko is good about going outside to potty but is not a fan of the cold weather. She doesn’t always stay outside long enough to do everything but is very good about using a puppy pad if she needs to. Yoko gets along very well with people and another dog that is in her foster home.
Yoko is on medication (half a pill twice a day) but that doesn’t slow her down. She would make a great addition to a home that is looking for an older dog with a lot of love to give.
Our wishes for Yoko include:
A fenced yard
Another smaller dog for her to hang with and keep her company if you have to go out
No apartments or high-rises

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
