BIO:  Hi, I'm Rockne! I was brought to a shelter in East Tennessee by a person that said I was a stray and had hung around their yard for a month. Well I don’t buy that, my foster mom says my nails are too short to have been on my own for a month! These are my needs:

  • Must have a fenced yard
  • No children or grandchildren under that age of 12 years
  • No apartments or high rises
  • Another young dog for me to play with and keep me company if you have to leave the house
  • Cats are fine if they don’t run, then the chase is on

My foster mom had to take me to work with her for several days and I LOVE men, and like the ladies too. When you first meet me, you must let me check you out and then I can be your buddy. I love attention!

Foster mom thinks I might be better with someone that is home more, and not just during the pandemic. As you can see from my pictures, I'm a beautiful smooth black and tan. I’ll be ready for my forever home the 1st weekend in January 2021!

============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo.  You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.  If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Rockne (aka Rocky)in IL

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
