BIO UPDATE (11/30/2020): Colin came from a shelter in Arkansas along with another Dachshund. He tested negative for heartworms at the shelter but by the time he came to us several weeks later, he tested positive at our veterinarian. He has now completed treatment with flying colors and is ready for his forever home!
Our list of non-negotiable, must-have's for sweet Colin includes:
- A fenced yard
- Someone who is home a lot to help with with house training... he likes you to go out with him
- Someone willing to let him sleep in the big bed
- The patience and understanding that he may have some separation anxiety when you leave, though he can be crated
Colin is the sweetest boy! He loves his humans with all his heart and he wants to be with you wherever you go. If he can't be in your lap, then he's at your feet.
He does not like the rain or snow so just be aware you will have to bribe him with treats and go out with him to potty. He'll sleep all night in the big bed with you.
Please consider giving this sweet boy a loving last home. He's not prefect but he makes up for his shortcomings with all the love he has in his heart.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions (until further notice since the border is closed due to the pandemic, we can't adopt into Canada), but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
