BIO: If you are looking for the “perfect pet”, look no further 'cause here he is! Newt is just the best dog! He minds well, is smart, gets along with all dogs, and is very submissive. He was given up by his owners who could no longer care for him. Our wishes for sweet Newt include:
- A fenced yard
- Someone home a lot (not just during the pandemic)
- Another young small dog to cuddle and play with
- Absolutely no apartments or high rises
The one thing we noticed right away about Newt is his ability to get along with everyone and everything. He might be a tad shy at first but if you give him some attention, he will blossom before your eyes. His foster mom only told him twice to get off the bed at night and now he doesn’t even try; he just lays on a doggie bed in the bedroom and stays there all night until she gets up in the morning. If you want him to sleep with you though, he’d be all for it! When he first came he’d whine a little when foster mom was in one room and he couldn’t get in there but he’s getting better as he’s gaining more confidence. You won’t want to miss adopting this dog, he’s a gem!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and MidWest. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
