BIO: Genesis was a breeder release from North Carolina. She is very shy and will need a Dachshund savvy home, no exceptions. We want the adopters to help her be the pet she was meant to be. For that reason, we are going to be very picky where she goes. Must-haves for little Genesis include:
A fenced yard
No apartments or high-rises
Her adopter must be home all the time, or a lot, to help her and train her to not be afraid
Another young small dog in the home for her to learn from
A Dachshund savvy adopter who knows about breeder dogs and how they are
A doggie door is preferred
Genesis is doing great in her foster home. She loves to snuggle with both of my dachshunds. She is a very loyal little girl who loves to be in your lap. She can use the puppy door and is doing great with potty training. She sleeps all night.
Genesis is very sweet but don’t let that sweetness fool you, she’s very timid and will need a lot of patience to help her overcome her history as a breeder dog. Being Dachshund experienced isn’t enough, you must know how breeder dogs can be. We are going to be very strict where she goes, so please, don’t ask or expect us to make an exception because you like her color or pattern.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
