BIO: Barron is my name and I’m looking for my last forever home. Is that you? My previous family in western Tennessee had to give me up because they were moving. At least they contacted rescue because they didn’t want to take me back to the shelter that they got me from 4 years ago. This is what I’m looking for:
A fenced yard
No apartments or high rises
Another Dachshund to pal around with as I do like a buddy
If you could be home a lot, I’d like that too but if I have a buddy, we could stand to be alone until you come home from work
From my foster mom: Barron is one of the sweetest and friendliest Dachshunds you’d ever want to meet! He knows no stranger and will greet you with a tail wag. He was allowed to get overweight so we have to take about 3-4 pounds off of him. We are working on it and he eats the Hill’s Science Diet Metabolic very well when we soften it. No human food for Barron or too many treats as they go right to his waist line.
If you are looking for a cuddle buddy at night when you are chilling, watching TV, or reading, then Barron is the boy for you!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
