BIO: Shannon is a cheerful survivor. She doesn’t look like she’s had an easy life, but you wouldn’t know it from her personality; she just rolls with whatever goes on around her and is pretty undemanding. She is delightfully peppy for her eight years, and is happy with a toy or chew bone--oh, and she always has time for a cuddle. Shannon’s greatest joy (or shall we say obsession?), is chasing a big ball around the fenced yard, providing entertainment for her and anyone watching. She falls asleep instantly on a car ride, and loves to go for short walks. Above all, she lives for bed time and burrowing under the covers in her human’s bed. If you’re looking for a mature, well-adjusted dog who will give you unconditional love for the rest of her days, Shannon is the doxie for you. Shannon doesn’t have special needs, but she does have bowed back legs, so she has to maintain a healthy weight.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
More about Shannon...KY
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
