BIO: COCOPUFF is a beautiful, eager-to-please, somewhat shy baby! When I picked him up in Shreveport, LA, I was told he absolutely did not tolerate a collar; he did the twist & shout. That reminded me of another old song, “Shimmy Shimmy CocoPuff!” by the Troglodytes (yes, REALLY!). Well, given that I don’t much care for collars, either, we tried out a nifty new-fangled harness, and we’ve had no more shimmy! He’s ever so willing to try whatever I ask of him: three times around with the nail-trimmers (snip a little as you go, then repeat as often as needed); ear-cleaning (SUCH a relief!); mouth/dental check (they’re beautiful puppy teeth!); we are even mastering leash-training(“STOP”, “SIT”, “GO UP” makes MAMADACH so happy!). He is not quite sure about the “Potty”, but maybe an example by foster-brother might be helpful… Tandem harnesses here we come! Gotta be easier than 3 separate leashes all around in a tangle!
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
